Found Treasure

This is entirely off topic from wedding and portrait photography but is way too awesome to not share here.

About a year ago or so I bought a Brownie ‘Holiday’ camera at the flea market in Harpers Ferry, WV for $5. When I got the camera home and began cleaning it I opened it up and found a roll of exposed 127 Verichrome Pan in it. Not knowing anything about the roll of film I held onto it.

So I finally took a chance  last night and guesstimated what it would take to develop and the roll of film. I must also mention that I used modern Kodak TMax developer chemicals to do this – not what the original developing recipe called for. I have no idea how old the photos are but the camera was made between 1953 and 1962 and sold for $5 at the time. the Kodak Verichrome Pan filmwas last produced in 1995. Based on the front end of the bus and the clothing in the one photo I would guess that this roll was exposed in the late 60′s or early 70′s. The bus also has “Berkeley County Schools” written on the side.

I really just expected, at the most, some foggy and barely visible photos so I can say that I was really excited when I saw these come out of the developing tank. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
